At the Rugby Magazine, we are a team of rugby players, and that is the driving force behind our new Support Your Club initiative.
We know that local Rugby Clubs are always walking a tight line financially, and even if they aren't, the opportunity to increase your income is a welcome prospect. With this in mind, our Support Your Club initiative gives clubs exactly that, an opportunity to earn your club money.
The more users signed up to and playing our fantasy who purchase an upgrade, the more money the club will make - clubs earn 50% of all upgrades (after applicable taxes) that each of your own club members plays for.
This initiative came about in this format for a number of reasons: the first is to earn clubs more money, and the second is to engage those involved with the club around a common and enjoyable topic (obviously Rugby), and it's important to us that this extends beyond the player base. Given that players from the first team through to the younger junior levels can play fantasy rugby, the opportunity to engage and generate club funds from players, supporters partners and friends becomes available for the first time!
The fantasy platform has already become a strong conversation topic within a number of clubs. The following is some feedback we received from Gareth, a coach in Leicestershire:
"I have to say, a huge thank you from all of us in our league, we have all thoroughly enjoyed playing, fantasy rugby has dominated the chat at the club.
"As Head Coach, I'm in charge of the club awards next week at our dinner, and I’ve personally bought a trophy for the winner of our fantasy league!
"You’ve done a brilliant job and actually helped the team bonding at the club through fantasy rugby!"
To instil a desire and motivation for long term engagement, the platform has also been expanded to give you a more unique flavour within your club. On signing into our game, both your playing club and favourite Premiership/Super Rugby teams are requested.
Your own club will have an overall league in which everyone competes - with individual leagues for U10s, U11s, Seniors, Ladies etc. - so you can see how you compare to your peers. There is then a league in which each team competes, so you can compete collectively against each of the other teams in your club.
Finally, every club involved will compete against each other, so you are all fighting to be crowned 'the best in the land' at the end of the season. There are prizes up for grabs for the top three teams once the season is over (and obviously the prestige of being the top Fantasy Rugby Club!).
If you are involved with a Rugby Club, or know someone that is, get the club signed up, and get earning!
